In politics, and especially in this era, no voting bloc ever operates as a monolith. Traditionally, unions tend to endorse the Democratic ticket, and for a number of different unions, that has held true.
The national Teamsters union, however, has held out and decided that this year neither of the candidates are aligned with the political needs of their members.
That hasn’t stopped local chapters from having their voices heard though.
On Thursday, it was announced that Joint Councils 32 and 39 would be endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s race.
The President of Joint Council 39, Bill Carroll, joined me on the show today to discuss what led to this decision.
Topics of discussion include what led to the disparity between the national Teamsters and the local chapters, Wisconsin Republican’s involvement in ACT 10, and the future of union strength after November.
