DODGE COUNTY, Wis. — A Reeseville man is charged in a fatal drunken driving crash in Dodge County.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says 56-year-old Gregory Moritz was the driver of a pickup truck that was northbound on Baker Road and was approaching the stop sign at County Road GI Sunday afternoon.
Investigators say Moritz failed to stop at the intersection, lost control of the vehicle, which went into a spin, struck a ditch and rolled over several times.
The passenger, 87-year-old Ralph Finkler of Reeseville, was airlifted to UW Madison Hospital where he later died from injuries related to that crash.
Moritz was arrested at the scene for OWI sixth offense and was later charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
Investigators say neither Moritz or Finkler were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
