It’s going to be easier for people in wheelchairs and scooters to get on and off some Valley Transit buses.
General Manager Ron McDonald says they have a new system called Q’Straint, and it’s on a new bus that’s just hitting the streets. He says all new buses that they’re adding with have it.
He says someone just has to push a button and they’ll be secured on the bus. He says it happens within several seconds.
For the system that’s on the other buses, the driver has to secure the rider inside the bus, using four straps. McDonald says that’s more time consuming.
McDonald says they’ll see if they can retro-fit some of their existing buses with the new system.
