The City of Oshkosh will pay Walmart more than $215,000 to settle a lawsuit over the value of the store.
The retailer sued, using so-called “Dark Store Loophole” to claim the property tax assessment of $16.6 million is too high.
Oshkosh City Manager Mark Rohloff believes these settlements are unfair, especially because it shifts more of the property tax burden to homeowners.
Under the agreement, Walmart’s assessment will be reduced to $13 million this year.
