After some tough times, dairy farmers are encouraged with a new trade deal with Mexico and Canada.
Jamie Mara of the Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative says they’re also hopeful about an initial agreement with China. He calls it an “exploding market” with a growing population for their various products.
Mara says the agreement with Mexico and Canada is critically important, because companies can do business across the border, tariff-free.
Mexico is the top importer of American dairy products, and Canada ranks third. Southeast Asia is second, and China is fourth.
