Buy "PhilCast FORE!" on line now!

Tuesday, Nov, 12 2013

Thanks to all those who visited Cinders on Veterans Day for our live broadcast to kick off sales of this year's 'best-of' DVD.

Although it's a lot of extra work, getting out to do a live show is always a lot of fun.

Now you can order your very own
"PhilCast FORE!" DVD on line.

The DVD features my personal collection of favorite moments from the show over the past PhilCast year, the fourth for the show.

All proceeds from the sale will go to the Menasha PD's K-9 unit so that the department can get a new dog after having to unexpectedly put theirs down this past year.

"PhilCast FORE!" will be available through the holidays, as the PhilCast Family does its part to give a little back to the community at this special time of year.

"PhilCast FORE!" DVD kickoff party info

Monday, Nov, 4 2013

The PhilCast show will come at you live from Cinders on Appleton's east side Veterans Day, Monday, November 11th as Cinders honors Vets with free steak sandwiches and we kick off sales of my annual "best-of" holiday DVD.

This year I look back on the fourth year of the PhilCast with my personal collection of favorite moments from the show with audio clips that go month-by-month with pictures added. I call it, "PhilCast FORE!" and the cover art has a golf theme.

PhilCast FORE! will cost you just $10.00, but feel free to donate more. All proceeds this year will go to the Menasha Police Dept. as they raise funds to replace this guy....

Gomez became ill and had to be put down this year and the department is working toward getting a replacement K-9.

Being a dog guy, I decided I would help the cause with your help when you buy the DVD.

PhilCast FORE! will be available to purchase on-line as of Tuesday, November 12th through at least December.

But the very first chance to own it comes on Veterans Day at Cinders, where they will be giving free steak sandwiches to vets....just like last year.

Reggie will join me at the live broadcast to handle sales of the DVD. For that day only, stop by and for the price of one you'll get a copy of last year's DVD thrown in, and also, while supplies last, an autographed PhilCast stock certificate.

Rich Ratay stops by from 3:00 to 4:00 that day to do Pack Yak with me as well.

Hope to see you there!

Another shot fired in the War on Christmas

Friday, Nov, 1 2013

Well there it is, the latest 'cave-job' and what I call a shot fired in the War on Christmas.

This is the sweater picture that Hallmark changed on one of its Christmas cards because they got some complaints about the original version of the card that actually used the REAL WORDS to the Christmas song....
"Don we now our gay apparel."

Someone complained about that?
Really?

Worse yet, Hallmark caves and changes the card, thus basically feeling it has the freedom to re-write the words to a classic Christmas song I guess.

Like I said....
Another shot fired in the War on Christmas in a politically-correct-gone-mad world.
Think I'll get going a bit on this when I talk about it on the Friday PhilCast show?

Death of a PhilCast Family member

Tuesday, Oct, 29 2013

Dear PhilCast Family,

I received sad news Tuesday evening at home. One of the original "Gold Card" members of the PhilCast Family has passed away unexpectedly and I wanted to share the story with you.

"Linda in Mequon" has left us way too early, but not before leaving her mark with many.

Back in late 2009 just months after the PhilCast started I began doing Pack Yak with Rich Ratay. Back then the PhilCast used an 800 number for listeners to call in and leave messages to be played on the podcast show. Suddenly there was this passionate lady from Mequon named Linda calling each week, leaving her two-cents worth on the game.

Rich and I would look forward to hearing her call because she told it like it was when it came to the Packers.

LInda in Mequon took the hot seat during a live on-location Packers' party in Brookfield in 2010.

I'll be playing an audio clip of one of Linda's calls during the PhilCast Wednesday. It was a call she made after becoming so disgusted after a loss that she called him...
Coach Mike McCrappy.

But Linda in Mequon was more than just a Packers' fan.

She was a gardener, and she canned all sorts of things from that garden. She used to call in for "HowzYer Weekend?" and tell us all about the good stuff she cooked up using fresh-from-the-garden ingredients.

Linda once donated an entire basket of her home-canned goods to be raffled off for one of the PhilCast charity DVD drives.

Linda made my wife Sandy special batches of Linda's blueberry jam, which Sandy still says was the best. I still remember eating the pickled beets Linda canned for me. The best. Her pickles rocked too. (see photo below)

Linda was a singer too, active at her church, the same church where PhilCast Family members Frank and "Soccer Mom" Patti knew her from.

Just a week ago Linda was putting out tweets about the Packers and Pack Yak. She would always remember to add the (Hashtag PhilCast, Hashtag WHBY) in her tweets.

We'll miss you Linda.
